Pulse is a leading manufacturer of home and hotel room automation systems used throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East. As features and enhancements to their products were developed, increasing their complexity, Pulse used in-house engineers to develop an installation document for each of its products. Due to success in the marketplace, the company began receiving a higher volume of technical support calls related to the installation and use of its products.
Pulse engaged InfoPros to develop a comprehensive documentation solution including both technical documentation and an Online Help system for their software application.
InfoPros recommended a single, comprehensive installation and configuration guide rather than a series of documents. The content was then used to generate a smaller, quick installation guide and was fed into the Online Help application. InfoPros designed a template to provide a standard look and feel for all of Pulse’s documentation. The template incorporates Pulse’s branding requirements while displaying information in an easy-to-read format for the target audience.
InfoPros worked closely with Pulse’s subject matter experts in France to gain an understanding of the technical requirements of the documentation. Existing engineering documents were assessed to determine the process for developing the installation and configuration guide. A developmental content edit was performed to ensure a single voice, continuity and a logical flow.
