Duran & Venables, a leading provider of grading and paving construction services in Northern California, was generating new business and making itself known the traditional, old-fashioned way for more than 27 years by word-of-mouth. The company had a limited marketing/communication plan, no sales collateral or tools, and no Web site to enhance its visibility, promote its services, and increase sales. The challenge was to create a marketing/communication plan and a tactical program with no pre-existing plans or programs to compare with or build upon, and no archived company information or statistics to utilize.
